EVENT DETAILS
Wellness Warrior Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization which promotes sustainability and wellness in underserved and impoverished communities worldwide through education, herbal medicine use, and post-disaster relief.
Puerto Rico, a US Territory island located in the Caribbean! We will fill our week with herbal medicine making, sponsor two clinics, and work with a local school to teach children about herbs and natural healing. We will build the children an herb garden and plant fruit trees to encourage sustainability. We plan to serve community members by offering herbal medicine clinics and completing projects which may include clean up, building, and repair.
As with all our trips, we know the demand of hosting multiple medical clinics, so we want to assure as much rest time as possible. Look forward to spending your downtime relaxing on the beach, snorkeling in the Caribbean, taking a night kayak trip at Laguna Grande one of Puerto Rico's Bioluminescent Bays, or hiking in the El Unique mountains or Parque Ceremonial Indígena de Cagüana (Caguana Indigenous Ceremonial Park), the Caribbean's most important archeological site where we can participate in a variety of outdoor adventures and visit some of the Island’s top coffee farms.

Additional fun takes us to dinner in San Juan's music district where we can enjoy dancing, and great food on the evening before we return home.

This is a limited-participant paid trip. Depending on interest and housing, we could bring as many as 40 people on this fall retreat, however we are limiting the trip to 12 participants at this time. The total cost for this trip is $1750 per person. A $150 non-refundable security deposit is required at the time of registration.

MORE DETAILS
Arrive in San Juan BEFORE Monday, October 2, 2023 at 3 pm. Once your trip is confirmed, one of our members will reach out to you to organize your flight.
We will be working in communities in Puerto Rico to provide care to community members of all ages. Team members will arrive at the San Juan airport before 3 pm on Monday and will use public/airport transportation to a local hotel for our initial team meeting, which will take place around 4 pm. After the meeting, we will load our items into the vehicles and make way towards Utuado, a 1.5 hr drive west of San Juan. We will be stopping at the grocery for any last minute items, snacks, and toiletries you may need. Our team will have already completed the grocery shopping, so you will only need to purchase personal items or additional food items that you may want.

Once in Utuado, we plan to host 3 herbal medicine clinics. The team will participate in creating herbal medicines and preparing wound care products at the homesite prior to our clinical outreaches. At each of the three clinic events, team members will rotate through different care providing positions, work as support staff, or create herbal medicines in the apothecary.
Team members who have previously worked with WWF on a mission trip are encouraged to apply for a position of leadership where they will be tasked with different responsibilities during the clinics. If you are interested in these opportunities, please indicate so on your application.

FUNDRAISING
We challenge you to set your fundraising goals high! The cost of the trip is set, however donations received over and beyond the minimum allow us to be more flexible with the tools we bring with us, how many trees we can plant, and what types of medicines we can offer to our patients. In many cases, we like to purchase games and toys for the kids but these are not costs which are mandatory, so they are not worked into the trip cost. Any donation over the trip cost helps to support these additional activities!
All minimum funds must be raised prior to September 1, 2023 to assure they are received and credited to your account. Any funds raised on Facebook will take 57 days to post to your account, so please do not consider Facebook as a fundraising tool after July. Instead, please send your donors to your online fundraising page where they can donate directly to your account.

Once registered, you will create a link to set up your online fundraising account. This is required for each participant as it offers a way for donors to support your trip and receive proper tax credit and is the easiest way for us to track donations.

Fundraising events are currently being planned in Flagstaff, AZ. All attendees will be notified of these events to participate. If you have a fundraising idea or would like to host an event for our team, please contact us.
EXTRA STUFF
***it is your responsibility to assure you have the proper documents required to travel.
***Passports are NOT required to enter Puerto Rico as it is a US Territory.

We are excited to have you join our team and look forward to receiving your application.
