Preparing for Puerto Rico

Six friends gathered at my house in Gilbert, Arizona on Friday to spend time preparing herbal medicines and learning about each other, herbs, and our upcoming trip to Puerto Rico. We're traveling during spring break, the last week of March, to the beautiful but weather ravaged islands of Puerto Rico. Still, some areas of Puerto Rico are without clean water and most certainly roads are still in disrepair. About 9 months ago a small team from Wellness Warrior Foundation traveled to San Juan and the smaller sister island of Vieques to deliver one large community-sized and multiple small portable family-sized water filtration systems. The systems provided safe cleaning water for people of all ages.

Or upcoming trip will take place on both the main land of Rio Grand, and the island of Vieques. Around 18 friends will travel to Rio Grand on Wednesday, March 27th and prepare our herbal medicines over the following two days. On Saturday, we’ll travel to a fruit market and set up a small outdoor clinic focused on bringing awareness to the community of our presence, and the opportunity of using herbal medicines as a primary source of medicine. We have already worked to build relationship with Herbalists Without Borders (HWB), Naturopaths Without Borders (NWB), and the local Puerto Rico branch of HWB. A naturopathic medical school also resides on the island, so we will work to build connections as our future plans include having a permanent apothecary and remote herbal medicine clinic training program on the island.

Please stay tuned on updates regarding our work in Puerto Rico. If you have a heart to serve or would like to make a donation to support our efforts, please do so by visiting our website where your tax-deductible contribution can be made.
