Herbal Medicine Mission Trip

Herbal Medicine Trip to Puerto Rico - March 27 - April 3, 2019

Join us in Puerto Rico - Spring 2019 - as we travel as a team to render herbal medicine relief to the indigenous people of the land. Please see the tentative schedule below. Each participant is required to raise $1000 (current herbal medicine and naturopathic students qualify for a $250 discount) as a donation to the Foundation. 100% of funds will be used to support this mission trip. Even if you don't have herbal medicine knowledge we still need your help! There's children's events, educational activities, and non-medical jobs for everyone!

WHAT'S INCLUDED

• All transportation including ferry to Vieques
• Lodging, including beach camping (tents/hammocks, restrooms with showers are available)
• Yoga instruction
• Everything needed for the herbal medicine clinics
• T-shirt for the event (additional shirts can be purchased for $25/each)

WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED

• Flight to/from San Juan, PR
• Meals (as this will vary daily and according to your specific diet/restrictions) and tipping. Meals will vary as we will most likely have dinner catered while at the Eco Retreat. You may select to have a meal cooked for you at the home for $10/meal. On the day we arrive, we will stop in the village to purchase food. There is a full kitchen available at the Eco Retreat and you are welcome to cook individually or as a group. While in Vieques, food is more expensive, however we will visit the market so you can purchase food for the weekend.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW?

We have a lot of supplies we'll be bringing with us to Puerto Rico. The Foundation reserves the right to request one piece of luggage per person be reserved to carry Foundation items so we can make this trip possible while avoiding additional airport or transportation fees. We ask that you be flexible, have a positive attitude, and be patient with others who may not travel frequently. Because Puerto Rico is American Territory, you DO NOT NEED to bring a PASSPORT to enter. You will not go through customs at the airport. Although Spanish is the primary language spoken in Puerto Rico, many of the locals speak English very well, and our host at Elemental Eco Retreat is an Arizona native. We will have interpreters available and local medical staff to assist us in the event we need to utilize medical authority/license. Although herbal medicine is NOT regulated in Puerto Rico, naturopathic medicine is. Therefore, unless you are a licensed MD, ND, acupuncturist with permission to provide services in PR, or working under the license of an ND, MD, or other licensed professional with the same criteria, you will operate under the general provision of herbalism, which is unregulated, and allows us to freely practice.

REGISTRATION AND FEES - super important info! PLEASE READ PRIOR TO REGISTERING!

Registration will be limited to 20 participants on this trip, however more trips will be available throughout the year. Registration is open for different groups of people at different times to give preference in the following order to:

1. WWF members (registration open 12/6/2018)
2. SCNM naturopathic medical students (12/12/2018)
3. Students of other naturopathic or herbal medicine institutions (1/1/2019)
4. General public (2/1/2019)

• All registrations will be verified
• DEPOSIT AND DONATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. We work really hard to keep your cost low! Because of this, we can not refund donations made to the Foundation on behalf of your trip in the event you cancel or do not attend. Please assure you are able to attend on the dates given, AND BE FLEXIBLE if the dates change by one or two days in either direction due to better cost of transportation.
• Please double check your registration information and the important dates of registration!!
• Once you register, CHECK YOUR EMAIL for an important NEXT STEP in the registration process. Your registration is NOT FINAL until you pay your deposit. You will need to fill out some information a second time, don't worry! This is not a duplication!
• The deposit for this trip is only $25 for students and the standard $200 for the general public. Payment must be made in full prior to 3/1/2019 unless other arrangements have been made.
• All funds will be paid through Wellness Warrior and are tax deductible. You will receive a tax receipt through your email. All payments considered donations. All payments/donations are made on a secure and private server. Your private data is never stored. Payments are immediately available and will be credited to the appropriate participant's account.
• Please know that donations received through Facebook may take up to 75 days to be credited to Wellness Warrior Foundation and two separate deductions for fees are withdrawn amounting to 7.5% of the donation. Because of this, we highly recommend you send your donors to our website or by clicking on the "DONATE" button on the homescreen to donate directly to WWF.
• All participants are responsible for raising all funds prior to 3/1/2019. If funds are not received because they are in Facebook or another clearinghouse, WWF does not assume liability and may require the additional funds to be paid before leaving for PR. Please consider this when asking family/friends for donations. Again, we can't stress enough to use our clearing house directly to avoid any issues.

• Arrive at San Juan, PR.

• Travel to Elemental Eco Retreat, Rio Grande
• Group meeting/recap/prep for the following day
• Stay overnight at Elemental Eco Retreat

Thursday & Friday, March 28-29

• Shop for food
• Enjoy the Eco Retreat
• Prepare herbal medicine tinctures
• Enjoy Yoga, Music Therapy, relax in hammocks, study, read, prayer, children's therapy, games, preparation for the week ahead, etc.
• Group meeting/recap/prep for the following day

Saturday, March 30

• Travel by boat to the sister island of Vieques
• Establish 1st free herbal medicine clinic
• Group meeting/recap/prep for the following day
• Music on the beach before bed
• Team camping on Sun Bay Beach

Sunday, March 31

• Wake up by the Caribbean Sea!
• Establish 2nd free herbal medicine clinic
• Group meeting/recap/prep for the following day
• Music on the beach before bed
• Team camping on Sun Bay Beach

Monday, April 1

• Travel by boat back to mainland PR
• Enjoy the day off
• Option to participate in EcoTourism events (additional cost)
• Group meeting/recap/prep for the following day
• Music Therapy and evening relaxation
• Stay overnight at Elemental Eco Retreat

Tuesday, April 2

• Establish 3rd and final free herbal medicine clinic
• Group meeting/recap
• Stay overnight at Elemental Eco Retreat

Wednesday, April 3

• Morning group meeting and debriefing
• Depart from San Juan, PR for home!
